Clara B. Thetford September 25th 2020
Clara passed at the age of 86 peacefully at her residence. Clara was a farm girl who loved to play in the fields, help her folks, and ride her horses Midge and Penny. She helped the neighbors round up the cattle from the surrounding hills. She grew up in Toppenish, Washington. She had two sisters Correne and Collene. She had two brothers Junior and Durward. She married at the young age of 17 to Frank Phillips. Together, they had 4 children (Frankie Wayne, Michael Douglas, Patricia Anne, and Kathryn Carole). She is survived by her 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 31 great grand- children, and 2 great great grandchildren. Clara was a marvelous cook, seamstress, gardener, and canner. She loved to do embroidery and crocheting. She was known for her baked goods (homemade bread, cobbler, homemade pumpkin pie, and German Chocolate cake, and biscuits.) She was a devout Christian who read her Bible often. She loved to read fiction and non-fiction novels and do Crossword puzzles. She loved adventure and action packed movies. She was very independent. She was feisty yet very loving and had a smile that would brighten the room. She loved to engage in long conversations. She loved cars and road trips. She was a pet lover (dogs, cats, birds, horses, goats, etc.) Nature outside or inside on TV was a favorite. She was a morning person who was an early riser. She loved to sit outside in the cool morning air. She loved practical jokes and chasing the grandkids around the room while they screamed with laughter. She was called GG by her great grandchildren. At the time of her passing she was just about to be a great great grandmother for the third time. She was best known for her story telling of her life’s history. She shared endless stories of her ancestors from North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas. Being spontaneous was her forte, and adventure was her middle name. She loved telling tales of the genealogy of her Celtic heritage. She was very patriotic for God and Country. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren that served or are serving in the military (Army/Navy/Air Force). She loved the American flag, eagles, wolves, horses, and coyotes. She will be missed, but definitely not forgotten. May you soar on angel’s wings. We love you dearly and will remember you always.
