Daryl McFarlin Obituary

Daryl “Skip” McFarlin, 77, of Phoenix, AZ passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2023.

Skip was born on November 16, 1946 in East Moline, IL. He graduated high school from South Mountain High School in Phoenix in 1964. He was the owner of Sound Unlimited in the 1970s and more recently One Way Auto. From his early days as a crossing guard at Sunland School, boy scout, and paper carrier he was a hard worker. He excelled at making 8 track and cassette tapes, restoring old cars, playing cards, making others laugh and feel at ease. He was kind, generous, impossible to ignore or forget. He was famous for being the life of the party. Skip was larger than life.

Skip met his wife Nina in Phoenix & they were married for 54 years. In the mid 80’s he was born again, a changed man, and on a mission from God. From that time on, even to his last days, he would urge each one who loved or knew him to recognize the Lord who loved him most and blessed him beyond measure, giving him mercy instead of what each of us deserves.

Skip is preceded in death by his parents, Daryl & Arlene McFarlin. His younger daughter Susan Thompson (Tom), of Phoenix also preceded him in death by 2 months passing in October of 2023. He is survived by his wife Nina, sisters Caryl (Larry) and Leslie, brothers Jon (Janet) of Phoenix, and Douglas Mokma (Deborah) of Talent, OR along with 2 children, Liana (Rob) McFarlin of Phoenix and Michael (Kristin) Bleacher of Jacksonville, FL. Skip is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandkids, as well as many friends from all walks of life.

Services will be held at The Church at South Mountain in Phoenix, AZ on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11 AM.
